Columbia, Mo. – The #15 Columbia College (1-2-0) women’s soccer team took on the #22 Ravens of Benedictine College (2-2-0) today, continuing the Cougars’ tough non-conference schedule.

The Cougars and Ravens both had slow starts to the offensive efforts until a build-up play saw Delfina Zolesio Fernandez Blanco play the ball to Macie Lucas for a shot off the crossbar that was then headed in by Jewel Morelan, giving the Cougars the 1-0 lead at the 29′ mark.

At the end of the first half, Isabella Govero played the ball forward to Delfina Z.F. Blanco who crossed it in and found the head of Ginevra Spinelli; Spinelli was able to convert and find the back of the net, extending the Cougars’ lead to 2-0 heading into the second half.

Early in the second half, Kaya Thies turned on a ball and got it past the Ravens defender and goalkeeper. With a 3-0 lead, the Cougars did not let up as they registered five second half shots.

In goal, Kate Marshall saw her first action of the season, picking up four saves.
