Cougars Advance in AMC Baseball Tournament

O’Fallon, Mo. – The Columbia College Baseball team advanced to day three of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) baseball tournament with an 11-3 win over No. 7-seed Williams Baptist on Wednesday.

The Scoring:

  • T1 (WBU): An RBI single got the Eagles on the board first (CC 0, WBU 1)
  • B1 (CC): The Cougars scored three times in their half of the first, as Kellen Williamson, Bryce Torricelli, and Jarrett Newell picked up RBIs (CC 3, WBU 1)
  • B6 (CC): Torricelli doubled down the left field line, scoring Williamson. David Dell later followed with a two-run double to left center. (CC 6, WBU 1)
  • T8 (WBU): Williams Baptist added two in the eighth (CC 6, WBU 3)
  • B8 (CC): The Cougars scored five runs in the eighth, highlighted by a two-run homer from Indy Stanley. (CC 11, WBU 3)

 
Inside the Box:

  • The Cougars banged out five extra base hits with four doubles (Braden Desonia, Bryce Torricelli, Jarrett Newell, and David Dell) and a home run (Indy Stanley).
  • Stanley, Torricelli, and Dell had two RBIs each.
  • Dan Fick picked up the win after going 7.1 innings on the mound allowing three earned runs on six hits and striking out four.
  • Kaleb Richards and Noah Skaggs combined to go 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball.
