Cooper’s Goal Lifts Cougars Past Harris-Stowe

Columbia, Mo. – Freshman Cooper Allen’s first career goal proved to be game-winner as the No. 23-ranked Columbia College men’s soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory over Harris-Stowe University Saturday at R. Marvin Owens Field.
 
Allen broke through the Harris-Stowe defense in the second minute and beat goalkeeper Michael Brennan for the lone goal of the game. 
 
Columbia improved to 6-3-4 (2-1-1 AMC) with the win, while Harris-Stowe fell to 7-5-1 (1-3-1 AMC).
 
The Cougars improved to 3-0-3 at home this season and extended their unbeaten streak to 14 games dating back to the 2022 season.
 
Each team had two golden scoring opportunities in the second half. Massimo Kluver hit the post for Harris-Stowe in the 55th minute, and then Cooper Hayes deflected a shot off the post for the Cougars in the 85th minute.
 
Columbia outshot Harris-Stowe 15-11, recording nine shots on goal, and the Cougars had the 9-6 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Alejandro Molto Munoz made two saves as the Cougars recorded their seventh shutout of the season. Molto Munoz has a  4-2-3 overall record with a 0.59 goals against average in nine starts this season.
 
The Cougars continue AMC play on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at William Woods University. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in Fulton.
 
NOTES: Columbia leads the all-time series with Harris-Stowe 33-7-1 and has won nine straight in the series.
