Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Columbia College men’s basketball team dropped a double-overtime thriller to the No. 13-ranked Statesmen of William Penn University on the road tonight. Columbia and WPU were tied at the half 33-33, then again at the end of regulation 71-71. After the first period of overtime, there was another tie at 80-80, but the Statesmen were able to escape with the 93-91 win over the Cougars.
Columbia played tough defense as they forced 16 turnover from WPU while also grabbing 11 steals as a team.
Tony Burks continued his impressive play for the Cougars as he finished with a game-high 37 points to go along with 10 rebounds and five steals. Burks’ 37 points mark his new career-high in a Columbia College jersey.
Collin Parker followed with 27 points, and Trendon Tisdale also had double-digit points with 10. Marlon Allen pulled down 11 rebounds, and Carson Parker handed out four assists.
The Cougars take a week off before they host the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic with games against Bellevue University on Friday and Baptist Bible College on Saturday.
