Celestine and Scheriber Earn NCAA Championships Runner-Up Titles

FORT WORTH, Texas. – The University of Missouri gymnastics wraps up the 2022 season ranked fifth in the nation with a final score of 197.200. This is the highest finish in program-history. The surpassed Alabama, Michigan and Minnesota.

Florida and Auburn both advanced to the finals from the evening session. Oklahoma and Utah advanced to the finals from the afternoon session. Oklahoma scored a 198.1125, Florida scored a 197.9750, Auburn took third with 197.8375, ahead of Utah in third with 197.7125 and Mizzou in fifth with 197.200. Minnesota took home sixth-place with 197.1125, Alabama seventh with 197.100 and Michigan eighth with 196.2875.

Sophomore Sienna Schreiber tied for second on beam with a 9.95, which was the second highest score of the evening session. She also totaled 39.500 in the all-around.

Junior Helen Hu tied for fourth on vault with a 9.9375, which was the third highest score of the evening session.

Freshman Amari Celestine finished second on vault with a 9.950, which was the highest score of the evening session.

#MIZ TAKEWAYS

  • The Tigers opened the night with a 49.1125 on bars, with three Tigers of scores of 9.8 or higher. Junior Helen Hu tallied a 9.8875, while Schreiber went 9.825. Senior Alisa Sheremeta tallied a 9.8250. The leadoff sophomore Amaya Marshall tallied a 9.775 for the Tigers.
  • Schreiber paced the Tigers with a 9.95 on beam in the second rotation as the squad earned a 49.4250. Sheremeta earned a score of 9.8750.  Marshall garnered a score of 9.8375 and Hu a 9.9375. Sophomore Sydney Schaffer went 9.8250.
  • In the third rotation, Missouri totaled a 49.4125 on floor. The Freshman anchor led the team, Celestine a 9.925. Schreiber and Sheremeta both garnered a score of 9.8875. Hannah McCrary garnered a score of 9.8750. Freshman Jocelyn Moore tallied a 9.8375 for the Tigers.
  • Mizzou closed the session with a strong performance on vault, earning a 49.150 on the apparatus. Celestine once again led the way with a 9.950. Moore tallied a 9.8875, while Schreiber tallied a 9.8375. Additionally, freshman scored Grace Anne Davis a 9.800.
