MANHATTAN, Kan. — Junior Alicia Burnett broke the school record for the women’s 60 meter twice in one day, and five other Tigers finished top five in their respective events, as Mizzou wrapped up day one of the DeLoss Dodds Invitational.
In the 60m prelims, Burnett finished second and posted a time of 7.28, giving her the top spot all-time at Mizzou, breaking a record held by LaQuisha Jackson for nine years by 0.03 seconds. After easily qualifying for the finals, she put up her second record-breaking performance of the day, finishing in just 7.21 seconds, giving her the top two spots in school history, and beating Jackson’s top time by 0.1 seconds. Burnett’s 7.21-second run ties her for eighth in the NCAA in the event.
MU grabbed the second- and third-place spots in the women’s 1000m, as juniors Nicole Louw (2:52.81) and Anneken Viljoen (2:53.16) made sure the Tigers were well represented on the podium.
Graduate Mitchell Weber (men’s weight throw), junior Brianna Lee (women’s 600y), and sophomore Petra Gombas (women’s weight throw) all finished fifth in their respective events.
Three weight throwers set personal bests in Manhattan as well, with junior Sam Innes’ 19.68m (64-7), sophomore Garik Pozecki’s 18.19m (59-8), and junior Ames Burton’s 16.80m (55-1) all marking new highs for the athletes. Innes and Burton have each set personal records in both meets in the indoor season.

The Tigers wrap up the DeLoss Dodds Invitational tomorrow, which Missouri will begin with its first event at 10 a.m.
