Bowling Takes Third at Conference Tournament

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Entering the AMC/KCAC/GPAC Conference Tournament as the No.6-seed, the Columbia College bowling team picked up two key wins over the No.2 and No.3 seeds, finishing third of 10 teams.

The Cougars knocked off No.3-seeded Ottawa (Kan.) in round one, who is also ranked eighth in the country, 3-2 (139-191; 231-176; 143-161; 177-154; 180-164). This was the first time in school history Columbia has picked up a win against a United States Bowling Congress (USBC) top-10 program.

In the championship quarterfinal match up, Columbia faced No.2-seeded Hastings (Neb.) picking up another 3-2 (182-173; 147-133; 158-201; 200-206; 169-166) victory, advancing to the championship semifinals.

The Cougars took on the No.4-seeded Owls of William Woods (Mo.) and came up short 3-0 (170-202; 181-183; 173-178). 

This led Columbia to the elimination semifinal to face Hastings once again, but would fall 3-1 (147-158; 126-135; 187-151; 150-152).

The Cougars will return to action March 8-10 as they heade to USBC ITC Sectionals in Addison, Ill.
