Baseball Wins Two on Day One in Kansas

Baldwin City, Kansas – The Columbia College baseball team continued their winning ways today as they won both of their games on day one of the Rube Foster Classic, hosted by Baker University. Marking the first time since 2019 that the Cougars played against Northwestern College, and the third year in a row of playing Baker University, Columbia defeated NWC 6-0 before winning against Baker 3-1. Columbia improves to 12-1 overall this season, 

Game One Stat Tracker:
CC def. Northwestern, 6-0

  • Tyler Renn and Devyn Lopez each hit a double
  • Braden Desonia finished with two stolen bases
  • Bryce Taylor was credited with the win as he pitched through seven innings with eight K’s, giving up zero earned runs
  • Brayden McGinnis and Riley Poulton each had eight putouts on defense
  • Tyler Renn collected three RBIs

Game Two Stat Tracker:
CC def. Baker, 3-1

  • Cayden Nicoletto homered, putting his season total at eight
  • Columbia out-hit Baker 9-1
  • Cayden Nicoletto had two RBIs, Devyn Lopez had one
  • Reece Clapp pitched the full seven innings, finishing with nine K’s and only allowing one earned run
  • Brayden McGinnis and Riley Poulton once again finished with the same number of putouts at nine

Columbia wraps up play this weekend with two more games tomorrow. They play (RV) Doane at 10:30AM and then end the tournament with a contest against University of Saint Mary at 1:00PM.
