Baseball Sweeps Saturday Doubleheader; Wins Series Over Owls, 2-1

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College Baseball team swept a Saturday doubleheader over the William Woods Owls and won the three-game series, 2-1.

Game 1: William Woods def. Columbia, 5-2
Game 2: Columbia def. William Woods, 4-1

The Scoring:

• B5 (CC): The Cougars scored two on a two-run single from Kole Ficken (CC 2, WWU 0)
• T6 (WWU): The Owls scored on a passed ball (CC 2, WWU 1)
• B6 (CC): Columbia added two runs, one on an RBI single from Devyn Lopez and another on a single by Jarrett Newell (CC 4, WWU 1)

 
Inside the Box:

• Five different players had at least one hit.
• Tom McKenna, Kellen Williamson, Myles Jasper, and Jarrett Newell scored a run.
• Dan Fick went the distance on the mound, allowing one run on four hits and striking out seven.

 
Game 3: Columbia def. William Woods, 3-1

• T3 (WWU): The Owls scored on a squeeze play (CC 0, WWU 1)
• B4 (CC): Bryce Torricelli tied the game on an infield single (CC 1, WWU 1)
• B6 (CC): Devyn Lopez reached on an error, bringing home two runs (CC 3, WWU 1)

 
Inside the Box:

• Bryce Torricelli led the Cougars with a pair of hits.
• Indy Stanley, Kellen Williamson, Jarrett Newell, and Riley Poulton added a hit a piece.
• Torricelli and Devyn Lopez recorded RBIs.
• Jake Deakins got the start and worked three innings, allowing an earned run on two hits and striking out three.
• Andrew Paten picked up the win after going six innings on the mound, without allowing a hit and striking out nine.
