Kansas City, Mo. – The Columbia College baseball team went 1-1 at the Rube Foster Classic, hosted at the Royals Urban Youth Academy in Kansas City, Mo.
The Cougars are now 7-2 on the season.
Game 1: William Penn def. Columbia, 6-3
The Scoring:
- B1 (CC) – Indy Stanley singled home Braden DeSonia (CC 1, WPU 0)
- T4 (WPU) – The Statesmen tied the game on an RBI double (CC 1. WPU 1)
- B4 (CC) – The Cougars regained the lead with a pair of runs (CC 3, WPU 1)
- T5 (WPU) – WPU scored two runs to tie the game (CC 3, WPU 3)
- T7 (WPU) – The Statesmen added three runs on a bases loaded double (CC 3, WPU 6)
Inside the Box:
- Five different players had one hit for Columbia.
- Dan Fick went four innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits.
- Indy Stanley had the lone RBI.
Game 2: Columbia def. Baker, 2-1
The Scoring:
- T3 (CC) – Kole Ficken singled home Devyn Lopez to give Columbia an early lead. (CC 1, BU 0)
- B4 (BU) – An RBI ground out tied the game (CC 1, BU 1)
- T5 (CC) – The Cougars regained the lead on an Indy Stanley sac fly (CC 2, BU 1)
Inside the Box:
- JP Schneider went 4.0 innings on the mound allowing a solo earned run and striking out two to earn the win. Schneider is now 2-0 on the season.
- Alex Grellner picked up his second save on the season after tossing 1.2 innings allowing just one hit and striking out one.
- Devyn Lopez, Indy Stanley, and David Dell paced the offense with two hits each.
- Stanley and Kole Ficken drove in the two Cougar runs.
