Baseball Completes Sweep Over Williams Baptist

Walnut Ridge, Ark. – The Columbia College baseball team finished off a three-game sweep against American Midwest Conference (AMC) foe Williams Baptist (Ark.). The Cougars defeated the Eagles, 11-5 in game three.

The Scoring:

  • B1 (WBU): A two-run double by the Eagles gave them an early lead. (CC 0, WBU 2)
  • T2 (CC): David Dell walked with the bases loaded (CC 1, WBU 2)
  • B2 (WBU): The Eagles added two more on a solo home run and an RBI single. (CC 1, WBU 4)
  • T4 (CC): Tom McKenna was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, followed by a walk to Indy Stanley. (CC 3, WBU 4)
  • T5 (CC): Riley Poulton hit a sac fly to right scoring Devyn Lopez (CC 4, WBU 4)
  • B5 (WBU): A solo home run added a run for Williams Baptist (CC 4, WBU 5)
  • T6 (CC): The Cougars scored two runs on another bases loaded walk and an Andrew Paten single (CC 6, WBU 5)
  • T7 (CC): Indy Stanley reached on a fielder’s choice, scoring Kole Ficken. Kellen Williamson followed with a two-run triple (CC 9, WBU 5)
  • T9 (CC): The Cougars had two players hit an RBI double – Stanley and Williamson (CC 11, WBU 5)

 
Inside the Box:

  • Pharon Pilgrim picked up the win going 2.2 innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and striking out three.
  • David Dell, Kellen Williamson, and Andrew Paten recorded two hits each.
  • Indy Stanley and Williamson racked up three RBIs each.
  • As a team, the Cougars had four extra base hits.
