AMC Volleyball Awards Announced

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference has announced the members of the 2023 AMC Women’s Volleyball All-Conference and Season Award winners. 

Columbia’s Luisa Ferreira took home AMC Setter of the Year honors for the fourth time in her career, while six were named to the All-Conference Team.

  • Setter of the Year / First-Team All-Conference – Luisa Ferreira
    • Earning her fourth Setter of the Year and fifth First-Team All-Conference accolades, Ferreira has collected over 1,127 assists, averaging 10.84 per set this season. Over the 32-game stretch, she has also produced 263 digs, 84 kills, and 36 service aces. Ferreira also dished out a season-high of 58 assists against William Penn (Iowa).

 

  • First-Team All-Conference – Allana Capella
    • Capella picked up her second-consecutive First-Team All-Conference recognition, accumulating 315 kills and 59 total blocks on the season. Capella averages 3.03 kills per set and has notched 13 service aces over 32 matches played. She picked up a season-high in kills with with 18 against William Penn.

 

  • First-Team All-Conference / Champions of Character Team – Ellie Rockers
    • Rockers grabbed her second First-Team All-Conference honors during her tenure for the Cougars, earning 279 kills with 2.71 per set. Over 32 matches played, she has produced 19 service aces, while collecting 313 digs with 3.04 digs per set. Rockers earned a season-high in kills with 16 against Saint Mary (Kan.) She was also named to the AMC Champions of Character Team for the fourth time in her career for her contribution to the NAIA Five Core Character Values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership. 

 

  • First-Team All-Conference – Alayna Rooks
    • Rooks finds herself on the First-Team All-Conference team for the first time in her career, picking up 277 kills, averaging 2.89 per set over 31 matches played. She picked up a season-high in kills against Stephens (Mo.) with 16.

 

  • Second-Team All-Conference – Magdalena Bostal
    • Bostal accumulated 313 digs, notching 3.19 per set. She claimed her season-high in digs against Stephens with 21 in the contest. Bostal also served 21 service aces throughout 30 matches played.

 

  • Honorable Mention – Abby Massengill
    • Massengill connected on 167 kills and 50 total blocks on the season, while producing a season-high 13 kills against William Penn.

The AMC has also released the list of student-athletes to earn Academic All-Conference recognition. To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be in their second semester at their AMC institution, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and finish the year on the team. *fall sport freshman are not eligible for the award in their first season.
