COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri head soccer coach Stefanie Golan announces the team’s latest roster addition, Nicole Icen. The graduate transfer comes to Columbia from Mercer and is set to join the Tigers ahead of their 2023 campaign.

“We are very excited to add Nicole to our program,” said Golan. “She had a successful career at Mercer and is excited to challenge herself in different ways, and everything that Nicole values aligns well with what we are building at Mizzou. She is going to add a new dynamic to our attacking group, and we are excited to have her.”

“I love how tight-knit the community is,” said Icen. “The staff, team and culture seemed up my alley and I look forward to exploring it further.”

Icen joins Mizzou bringing with her a noteworthy amount of experience, having appeared in 63 games during her four years with the Bears. Throughout her career, the forward earned Southern Conference Player of the Year, while leading the SoCon in points (23), points per game (1.28), goals (10), and goals per game (0.56). Additionally, the perennial SoCon star has accumulated all-freshman, all-conference and all-tournament honors.

The graduate student’s other accolades include membership in the 2020 SoCon Tournament Team, as well as the 2022 Second Team All-Conference. She received SoCon Academic Honor Roll recognition during her sophomore and junior campaigns and comes to Mizzou to study Marketing and management.

Prior to college, Icen attended Pope High School in Marietta, Ga. where she played for head coach Charles Heath Green. As the team’s MVP in 2018, she was named Region Player of the Year and led them to a Final Four appearance and region runner-up finish. The forward also played for UFA Milton 00′ under coach Craig Berounsky, earning three state championships. Furthermore, Icen was a member of the 2017 Disney Showcase-winning club team.
