Columbia, Mo. – The #4 Columbia College men’s soccer team (1-0-2) endured a 90-minute physical contest against the Ravens of Benedictine College (1-2-1), scoring twice to claim their first win of the season.
Nathan Durdle took a shot inside the box that was deflected by the Raven goalkeeper and picked up by Rece Gilmore. Gilmore took a shot through the goalkeepers legs and was able to convert, giving the Cougars the 1-0 lead.
Columbia continued to pour on the offensive pressure, registering 17-team shots while holding Benedictine to just six.
In the 74th minute, Nick Brandt settled a pass from Gilmore and broke past the Ravens’ defense to score the Cougars’ second goal.
Liam Gibbs played a full 90-minutes in goal for the Cougars and pulled down four saves.
