Baldwin City, Mo. – (Results) Running in their first meet of the season, the Columbia College women’s cross country team placed first out of five teams at the ZK Maple Leaf Invite, hosted by Baker University.
The Cougars defeated two teams that were ranked or receiving votes – (25) Baker and (RV) Benedictine (Kan.).
Competing in her first collegiate race, freshman Peri Welch took home the individual title finishing the 4K course in a time of 15:05.35. Mikayla Sehlmeyer placed second in a time of 15:41.49.
Emma Homfeldt joined Welch and Sehlmeyer in the top five with a fifth-place finish in a time of 15:48.29.
