Women’s Basketball Set for Road Tilt at Kentucky

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri women’s basketball team will wrap up a string of back-to-back road trips against Kentucky at 2 p.m. Sunday inside Rupp Arena. The contest will be broadcast on SEC Network and KTGR.

Missouri is looking to rebound following a, 62-51, loss to Georgia on Thursday night. The Tigers put together a 10-0 run with under three minutes remaining, but were unable to overtake the Bulldogs.

Missouri had three players score in double figures in the game, led by a 13-point outing by senior forward Hayley Frank. It is the second-consecutive contest that the Preseason All-SEC Second-Team Honoree has led the Tigers in the points column.

Frank passed Morgan Eye and Kesha Bonds to move into 13th place on Missouri’s all-time scoring leaderboard. The senior stands just three points shy of Ericka Fields (1,390) for 12th.

Mizzou and Kentucky will meet for the 16th time in history will the Wildcats leading the all-time series, 10-5. Sunday will be the second matchup between the teams this season as Missouri earned a, 74-71, victory over the conference opposition on Jan. 29.

Frank and senior guard Lauren Hansen combined for 38 points in the victory.

Kentucky enters the contest with a 9-11 record including a 1-7 mark in SEC play. The Wildcats have lost two straight and are coming off a three-point loss against Auburn on Thursday.

Head coach Kyra Elzy is in her third season at the helm of Kentucky’s program and has led the Wildcats to a 46-32 record in her tenure.

The current roster is headlined by graduate guard Robyn Benton who averages 17.2 points per game and sophomore guard Jada Walker who contributes 13.5 points per contest.

Kentucky leads the conference with 10.6 steals per game and ranks fifth in assists dishing 14.7 per appearance.
