Volleyball Readies for Weekend at Mississippi State

NCAA VB: Mizzou Tigers vs. Florida Gators

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball (4-20, 1-10 SEC) is heading south for two matches against Mississippi State (17-5, 8-2 SEC) on Saturday, Nov. 6, and Sunday, Nov. 7, inside the Newell-Grissom Building in Starkville, Miss. First serve for both matches is set for 2:00 p.m. CST.

Both bouts against the Bulldogs will air on the SEC Network+.

SERIES SNAPSHOT

  • Mizzou has dominated the all-time series against Mississippi State. Currently, the Tigers lead 15-0.
  • The two sides met twice last spring, with the Tigers taking a pair of victories inside the Bulldogs’ Newell-Grissom Building.
  • Mizzou is currently riding a fifteen-match winning streak over Mississippi State, dating back to the 2004 season. The Tigers have also claimed six consecutive wins in matches taking place at Mississippi State.

MIZZOU NOTABLES

  • Junior Anna Dixon paced the Tigers last weekend with 11 kills and one service ace. The team’s freshmen also led the way this week, with Jordan Illiff pouring in seven kills, Kayla Burbage and Kaylee Cox both contributing four, and Trista Strasser chipping in another three. 
  • On defense, Sophomore Emily Brown paced the Tigers with 13 digs, while Cox put up another 10 digs for the team.
  • Freshman Addison Lyon and Graduate Student Nicole Alford led the Tigers in assists with 12 and 10, respectively. 
  • Four of the Tigers’ freshmen were also able to produce two blocks each to stop the Gator’s attack. Iliff, Burbage, Cox, and Strasser all helped at the net.
