Volleyball falls to 7-4

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College volleyball team fell twice at the CSM/United Sports Academy Labor Day Classic on Saturday. The Cougars lost in four sets against (RV) Life (Ga.) and were swept by (3) Midland (Neb.).
 
Columbia (7-3) vs. Life (11-1)
Set 1: Columbia 22 | Life 25
Life led 11-10 in the first set, when Columbia took a 14-11 lead with four straight points, capped off by a service ace from Ellie Rockers. A 3-0 run gave Life an 18-16 lead, and they never gave up the lead in the set.  
 
Set 2: Columbia 25 | Life 23
The Cougars were down 3-0 in the second set before the Cougars rattled off six straight points, giving them the 6-3 lead. Columbia extended their lead to 16-11 when Life scored the following five points to tie the set at 16. However, Columbia ended the set on a 9-7 run to tie the match at 1-1.
 
Set 3: Columbia 15 | Life 25
Life used a 7-0 run to open a 16-5 lead in the third set. The Cougars continued to battle but could not cut into the lead as Life hit .367 in the set.
 
Set 4: Columbia 23 | Life 25
Columbia used a 7-3 run midway through the fourth set to take a 16-15 advantage and continued to lead for the following couple of points. After a Life attack error, the Cougars led 20-18, when Life ended the set scoring seven of the last ten points to win the match.
