Volleyball Extends Win-Streak to Seven

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College volleyball team improved to 7-0 on the season with a dominating performance against NCAA DIII Westminster (Mo.) on Wednesday. The Cougars beat the Blue Jays in three sets (25-11, 25-10, 25-20).

Set 1: Columbia 25 | Westminster 11
The Cougars came out and took it right to the Blue Jays in set one, jumping out to a quick 10-4 lead. Columbia never looked back, extending its lead to 20-9 after a block by Abby Massengill and Luisa Ferreira.
 
Set 2: Columbia 25 | Westminster 10
Set 2 was not much different, as Columbia led 19-5 after a Westminster attack error. The Cougars added four straight points to take a 24-9 advantage and the 25-10 win.
 
Set 3: Columbia 25 | Westminster 20
With Columbia leading the final set 8-3, the Cougars went on a 6-0 run capped off by a kill from Sude Gundogan and extended their lead to 14-3. The Blue Jays came roaring back and took the lead at 17-16, but Columbia answered with 6-of-the-next-8 points to lead by three (22-19). After a Westminster timeout, Columbia tallied three of the final four points and won the match.

Columbia begins the action with a match at 1:00 PM against Viterbo (Wis.), followed by a 5:00 PM match against Grand View (Iowa).
