Vilches Captures Bronze in High Jump at NCAA Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Track and Field’s Roberto Vilches cleared 2.24m (7-4.25) in high jump to secure Bronze and earn First Team All-American honors Friday night at the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.

It is the sixth time in the senior’s decorated career that he has achieved All-American status.

Vilches surpassed a season-best height on his second attempt Friday to earn Bronze.

Vilches advanced to the finals in the event after claiming the SEC Title and securing a third-place result at the NCAA west prelims.

The senior ranks second all-time on Missouri’s high jump leaderboard after clearing 2.27m (7-5.25) at the Mizzou Spring Open on April 6, 2019.

UP NEXT

Kaia Harris (discus), Claudina Diaz (high jump) and Euphenie Andre (triple jump) will close out the championships on Saturday. Diaz will open the action at 7:30 p.m. The entirety of the title meet will air on ESPN2.
