Tyler Badie Named Doak Walker Award Semifinalist

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Tyler Badie is a semifinalist for the 2021 Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the college football’s premiere running back, it was announced on Wednesday. He is one of 10 semifinalists and is the only Southeastern Conference back recognized.

In 2021:

Rushing: 200 att. (12th FBS, SEC leader), 1,239 yards (4th FBS, SEC leader), 12 TDs (18th FBS), 73 long, 6.2 ypc, 123.9 ypg (4th FBS, SEC leader)

Receiving: 50 rec. (64th FBS, 4th among RBs), 337 yards, 4 TDs, 34 long, 6.7 ypc, 33.7 ypg

All-Purpose: 16 total touchdowns (6th FBS, 2nd SEC), 158.1 all-purpose yards per game (4th FBS, SEC leader), 1,581 all-purpose yards (4th FBS, SEC leader)

Badie is the only player in the country with four 200+-yard games this season (209 vs. South Carolina, 254 at Vanderbilt, 209 vs. North Texas, 203 vs. CMU) and one of just three SEC players to complete the feat since 2000 (Leonard Fournette, Derrick Henry).

Badie is the national leader in rushes of 30+ yards (10) and 40+ yards (7). He has had at least nine carries and two catches in every game this season, and has scored at least one touchdown in nine of 10 games played this season. He has five multi-score games this season.

A Spring 2021 sport management graduate (3.83 GPA), Badie was a 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, is a two-time SEC Honor Roll member and totals 150+ hours of community service.
