Jeffcoat, Trajan

Columbia, Mo. – Presented by the Maxwell Football Foundation, the Bednarik Award Watch List was released on Monday and includes Missouri’s Trajan Jeffcoat. The Bednarik Award is presented to college football’s defensive player of the year.

Now a redshirt junior defensive lineman, Jeffcoat was a 2020 first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection by the Associated Press and the league’s coaches. His breakout season included 6.0 sacks, 18 tackles, seven quarterback hurries and one forced fumble. Jeffcoat’s 6.0 sacks ranked second in the SEC and were the most by a Tiger defensive end since Charles Harris recorded 9.0 in 2016.

In 2020, Jeffcoat produced a sack in six of Mizzou’s 10 games, including one against Arkansas (Dec. 5), where he also recorded a career-high five tackles. He also forced a fumble in Mizzou’s win over Vanderbilt (Nov. 28). He was also a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
