Track and Field completes day one of Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa — University of Missouri track and field sent student-athletes to compete at five events in the Drake Relays (Des Moines, Iowa) Friday. The Tigers placed in the top-5 in three events.

NOTABLE FINISHES

Mizzou’s squad A — consisting of Davis Helmerich (Highland Ranch, Colo.), Jonathan Schmidt (Dresden, Saxony, Germany), Mitchell Small (Christchurch, New Zealand) and Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) — took third out of 13 teams in the men’s 4×1,600m relay with a time of 16:40.21.

The men’s 4x800m team composed of William Sinclair (Tauwhare, New Zealand), Angus Beer (Rozelle, Australia), Jack Warner (Kansas City, Mo.) and Chris Conrad (O’Fallon, Ill.) also placed in the top-5, finishing fourth with a time of 7:22.27.

In the women’s 1,500m, Melissa Menghini (Fenton, Mo.) picked up a new PR and placed ninth with a time of 4:24.43.

UP NEXT

The Tigers will compete tomorrow, April 30, in the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence, Kan., and the Drake Relays will also wrap up tomorrow with the distance medley and sprint medley relays.
