COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Track & Field will send 21 athletes to the NCAA West Preliminary Championships in College Station, Texas, the NCAA announced Wednesday.
The Tigers currently hold five national Top 20 marks across five events. Freshman Mitch Weber (Saint Clair, Minn.) ranks highest on the team, standing third in the men’s discus. He’s followed closely by freshman Skylar Ciccolini (Lewistown, Pa.), who is fifth in the women’s javelin.
Also ranking on the national list are sophomore triple jumpers Arianna Fisher (San Jose, Calif.) and Georgi Nachev (Yambol, Bulgaria), who both sit at No. 13 nationally in the women and men’s events, respectively. Junior Chris Conrad (O’Fallon, Ill.) currently sits at No. 17 in the men’s 800m.
The men will send seven athletes. In addition to Weber, Nachev and Conrad, senior Nylo Clarke (Riverside, Mo.) and senior Thomas George (Glouchester, England) will also have entries in the 400m and 10,000m, respectively.
The women will send 14 athletes, with nine of the entries coming in field events. The only multi-event athlete on the women’s side will be redshirt junior Emily Stauffer (Reinholds, Penn.), who will compete in both the hammer throw and shot put.
The Preliminary Championships will begin on Wednesday, May 26, and run through Saturday, May 29. The men will compete on Wednesday and Friday and the women will compete on Thursday and Saturday. Each day of the competition will be streamed on ESPN+.
