Hootie at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. – University of Missouri men’s golf finished in a tie for first at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate after finishing at 20-under to advance to a four-team playoff with ETSU, NC State and host South Carolina. The Tigers were eliminated after the first playoff hole.

Sophomore Jack Lundin and junior Charlie Crockett led the way for the Tigers in the third round at Bulls Bay while each secured an individual top-ten finish. Lundin was 3-under in the third round, including a 4-under front nine, en route to a tie for seventh overall at 6-under for the tournament. Crockett secured a top-five overall finish with his 2-under final round to place him in a tie for fifth.

Crockett’s top-five finish marks the best of his career. He and Lundin shot under par in all three rounds for the first time in each player’s career.

Junior Yu-Ta Tsai and graduate Jack Parker finished the final round at 2-over and 3-over, respectively.

On mindset…

The mindset was just we had a team motto of being tough this week and I think that was kind of we had to stick it in our minds. I just grinded really well today. It probably played the hardest today that it did of the three days, so just grinding really well and just staying patient and making smart choices over the weekend thinking through my shots. I think that was what kind of helped me play the way I did.

On what worked well…

I’ve played a couple of courses that had a similar style and had success on those too. So I just felt comfortable, I think, this week. And then I just executed my shots when I needed to.

On returning home for final event…

Just keep doing the same thing. You know, just keep executing our shorts obviously we’re going to be a little bit more comfortable around the home golf course. So just keep doing the same thing. You know, being tough all day. And dealing with the distractions that we have at our home tournament, you know, being in front of people we know and all those sorts of things. They’re all distractions and just sticking to our game plan and executing our shots when we need to.

On approach…

You know, I just was trusting my game I was trending in the right direction at our last event in Auburn and just kept working on the game and kept focusing on the game plan of trying to have no chips again. I just trusted myself. I mean I struggled a little bit the second day just didn’t score as well but just went into this last day. Just trusting my game trusting that I had all the pieces turned out that I just played really good and played really smart today.

On the team playing well…

It’s good, and we don’t all expect that from each other, but we know that we’re all capable of doing it. And so when we do it when we all do it, we’re we’re proud and happy for each other and but know that going into tomorrow it’s going to be a new day and that we get to work even harder tomorrow.
