Kansas City, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the qualifiers for the 2021 NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, which takes place in Gulf Shores, Ala. on May 26-28.
The Cougars had three athletes qualify for the championships – Quinton Brown, Ian Hammock and Alexander Dukes.
Brown, a native of Columbia, Mo., qualified in the high jump, hitting the “B” standard. He currently has the ninth-best height in the NAIA (2.05-meters), which he set at the CMU Open on March 20. The high jump takes place on Thursday, May 27, at 4:30 p.m. This even is finals only.
Hammock qualified in the hammer throw with an NAIA “B” standard mark of 52.12-meters, achieved at the UCM Mule Relays. The Dixon, Mo.-native is entering the championships ranked 33rd. The hammer throw will take place on Wednesday, May 26, at 5:00 p.m. This event is finals only.
Dukes, a native of Mexico, Mo., qualified in the half marathon by hitting the NAIA “A” standard with a time of 1:10:46.48 at the RFTR Half & Full Marathon. Due to an injury, Dukes will not compete at the NAIA National Championships.
