OXFORD, Miss./STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Missouri tennis team (6-16, 1-8 SEC) is slated to play No. 45 Ole Miss (9-8, 3-6 SEC) and No. 63 Mississippi State (10-11, 1-8 SEC) in its final weekend of regular season road matches on Friday, April 8, and Sunday, April 10.

Battling Georgia and Tennessee

Mizzou faced two tough opponents at home this past weekend with (then) No. 10 Georgia and No. 29 Tennessee. Between the two matches, the Tigers faced three ITA ranked doubles pairs and seven ranked singles players. The largest achievement from the match against Georgia belonged to Gabriela Martinez, who made history for the program. Martinez defeated No. 71 Kowalski, scoring the only point for Mizzou. This point was the first score for the program versus Georgia since joining the SEC back in 2012. In the match against Tennessee, the Tigers fell just short on a number of courts. Each of the three doubles pairs won four games against Tennessee, forcing top performances from the Volunteers. As a number of singles matches were still going on, play was halted once Tennessee clinched due to flight concerns.
