Softball Season Ends at NAIA Opening Round

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College softball team saw its impressive season come to an end at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) World Series Opening Round.

The Cougars end the season with a 35-7 record

Final Score Game 1: Marian 2, Columbia 3 (12 innings)
Final Score Game 2: IU Southeast 1, Columbia 0 (8 innings)

The Scoring – Game 1:
B4 – Taylor Barnes scored on a single by Allison Keen (CC 1, MU 0)
T5 – A sacrifice fly tied the game (CC 1, MU 1)
T6 – The Knights scored on two doubles (CC 1, MU 2)
B6 – Karolina Arbova led off the inning with a triple off the left-center fence and scored on a Taylor Barnes triple. (CC 2, MU 2)
B12 – Karolina Arbova sent the first pitch of the at-bat over the center field fence for the walk off win (CC 3, MU 2)

Columbia Leaders – Game 1:
Alyssa Roll went 3.2 innings in relief to earn the win. She allowed just two hits and picked up the win. Lexi Dickerson started in the circle and pitched 8.1 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, and she struck out four batters. Offensively, Taylor Barnes went 3-for-5 with an RBI and run scored. Allison Keen and Karolina Arbova had two hits apiece.

The Scoring – Game 2:
B8 – Erin Templeman led off the inning with a walk-off solo home run to start the inning.

Columbia Leaders – Game 2:
Alyssa Roll tossed 7.0 innings giving up one run on two hits. The Cougars had four hits – Carli Buschjost had two, while Skyler Kauble and Karolina Arbova added one hit each.
