Softball Defeats Friends in NAIA Opening Round

Henderson, Tenn. – The Columbia College softball team is one win away from advanced to the NAIA Softball National Championship Final Site, after taking care of Friends (Kan.) on Tuesday.

The Scoring:

  • B1 (CC): The Cougars struck first on an Emily King RBI double (CC 1, FR 0)
  • B4 (CC): Ella Schouten singled to left, bringing home Avgustina Arbova. Abigail Pringer followed with a two-run home run (CC 4, FR 0)
  • B5 (CC): Athena Wheeler hit a solo homer to center field. (CC 5, FR 0)

 
Inside the Box:

  • Emily King and Ella Schouten had two hits each.
  • Mackenzie Kasarda, Athena Wheeler, Avgustina Arbova, and Abigail Pringer had a hit apiece.
  • King (double), Wheeler (home run), and Pringer (home run) had extra base hits.
  • Taylor Barnes had the lone stolen base in the game.
  • Schouten went all seven innings in the circle with nine strike outs and only allowed two hits.
