SEC Outdoor Championships | Day One

OXFORD, Miss. – University of Missouri track and field finished day one of competition at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday. The women’s team sits in eighth place after scoring points in the hammer throw and javelin.

Sydney Oberdiek scored Mizzou’s first points of the meet. She finished sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 200-2 / 61.01m. The mark matches her personal best, set earlier this season, and the No. 6 performance in school history.

Atina Kamasi and Erin Zimmerman threw personal bests in the javelin. Kamasi – now with the fifth-best performance in school history – finished seventh with a 163-3 / 49.76m while Zimmerman was eighth with a 163-2 / 49.75m – the sixth-best performance in school history.

Christopher Conrad will compete in the final of the 800m on Saturday. He placed ninth overall in Thursday’s prelim with a season-best clocking of 1:48.22.

Isabella Sokolova currently sits 10th with 2,809 points in her first collegiate heptathlon. She clocked a 14.15 in the 100m hurdles and a 25.07 in the 200m. She cleared 4-67.75 in the high jump and tossed a 29-10 in the shot put. The seven-event heptathlon will continue Friday, starting at 2:35 p.m., with the long jump, javelin and 800m.

Also in the women’s javelin, Ava Curry was 10th (158-2 / 48.21m), Sophia Rivera was 13th (149-4 / 45.53m), Taylor Ciccolini was 14th (138-2 / 42.12m), Blair Widmer was 16th (134-11 / 41.13m) and Kaesha George was 17th (125-5 / 38.23m). Widmer’s toss is a personal best.

Ethan Hanson finished 14th in the hammer throw (173-1 / 52.76m). Jason Edwards was 10th in the javelin (189-10 / 57.87m).

Competition at the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships continues Friday, May 13. Sokolova will long jump as part of the heptathlon at 2:35 p.m. Claudina Diaz will high jump at 5 p.m. Chris McKinzy, Jr. will run the 110m hurdles at 6:15 p.m. Friday On Air: 1:45-5:45p (SECN+ Stream Only) | 6-9:30p (SECN+ Broadcast)
