
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri Track and Field team’s Sophia Rivera and Skylar Ciccolini advanced to the NCAA Championships in the javelin Thursday following their round one performance in Sacramento, Calif.
Ciccolini claimed fourth in the event with a mark of 55.70m (182-9), while Rivera notched eighth with a throw of 54.95m (180-3). Both athletes will be competing for the national title in Austin, Texas on June 8th.
Valentina Bornacelli (50.25m / 164-10), Atina Kamasi (49.58m / 162-8) and Erin Zimmerman (47.01m / 154-2) finished 15th, 19th and 25th respectively.
Also in action, Kelsey Schweizer advanced to Saturday’s quarterfinals in the 800m with a time of 2:06.88.
