Reports: Mahomes inks 10-year extension with Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is set to spend a long time in the City of Fountains.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a 10-year contract extension with their star quarterback. The extension adds onto a two-year pact already in force, putting Mahomes under contract with KC for 12 more seasons.

Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available, but industry experts expect the pact to be a record-setter among NFL players, and perhaps among the richest contracts signed in North American professional sports.

Mahomes is not only the reigning Super Bowl champion quarterback (and the game’s MVP), but won league MVP and offensive player of the year honors in 2018. He’s through 76 touchdowns against just 18 interceptions in his career, for over 9,400 passing yards in just two years as a starter.
