No. 9 Football Claims Senior Day Win Over Florida

Brady Cook

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The ninth-ranked Missouri football team sent its fans home happy one final time during the 2023 campaign, scoring a last-second field goal to secure a 33-31 victory over Florida on Saturday night.

Trailing by one point, 31-30, and facing a 4th-and-17 at its own 33-yard line with 38 seconds left, junior Brady Cook found sophomore Luther Burden III for 27 yards to keep the Mizzou (9-2, 5-2 SEC) drive alive. Cook then connected with Mekhi Miller for 11 yards and Mookie Cooper for 16 yards, setting up Harrison Mevis for a 30-yard field goal attempt with five seconds left. The senior split the uprights to put the Tigers in front for good, 33-31, over the Gators (5-6, 3-5 SEC).

Cook finished the game by completing 20-of-34 for 331 yards and two touchdowns – one through the air and one on the ground. Burden led Mizzou with nine receptions for 158 yards, while Cody Schrader ran for 148 yards on 23 attempts.

The Tigers wrap up regular-season play on Friday, playing at Arkansas at 3 p.m. on CBS.
