No. 24/25 Tigers Host Kansas City

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 24/25 University of Missouri softball (22-13, 3-5 SEC) will face Kansas City (8-22, 4-2 Summit) in a midweek contest on Tuesday evening. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Mizzou Softball Stadium. Graham Doty and Nicole Hudson Entz will call the game on SEC Network +.

Tuesday’s game will also be available on KTGR and the Tiger Radio Network. Andy Humphrey will have the call.

The Tigers are returning to action after a three-game sweep of South Carolina over the weekend. Mizzou has swept the Gamecocks in back-to-back seasons.

SERIES HISTORY

Mizzou leads the all-time series over the Roos 52-1. The lone defeat came during the 1997 season. The teams were scheduled to play in 2021, but the game was canceled.

WERT ALERT

Kimberly Wert became the Mizzou all-time home run leader with a solo shot in Friday night’s game against South Carolina. Her 48th home run broke Jen Bruck’s record that stood for 13 seasons.

Wert finished the weekend with a .667 average, a double, a home run and four RBI. She drove in a run in each game of the series.

SPECS-TACULAR

Laurin Krings picked up a pair of wins in the series against the Gamecocks. The sophomore went all seven innings on Friday while striking out nine and allowing only two runs. She came back on Sunday with a six-inning showing, allowing only one run and striking out six.

She has already matched her 2021 totals of 11 wins and 122 strikeouts.
