No. 24/22 Tigers Face No. 17/20 Auburn to Open SEC Tourney Play

NCAA SB: Mizzou Tigers vs. Texas A&M Aggies

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 24/22 University of Missouri softball (33-19, 12-11 SEC) opens play at the SEC Tournament against  No. 17/20 Auburn (39-14, 11-13 SEC) this week. Wednesday’s game is set for 1:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network with Amanda Scarborough and Kevin Brown on the call with Andraya Carter as the reporter.

SEC TOURNAMENT HISTORY

Mizzou is 4-7 all-time in the SEC Tournament. The Tigers went 1-1 in the 2021 SEC Tournament, defeating fifth-seeded LSU before falling to top-seeded Florida.

ALABAMA RECAP

The Tigers dropped their final regular-season series last week on the road at No. 6/8 Alabama. Jordan Weber picked up her second extra-inning, complete game win of the season in game one of the series. Kimberly Wert crushed the 60th home run of her collegiate career in the first inning of game one. She was intentionally walked four times during the series.

WERT ALERT

Kimberly Wert’s standout senior season has continued. She leads the Tigers with 16 home runs and 51 RBI on the year. Over the last 10 games, she is slashing .400/.571/1.280 with seven home runs while driving in 21 runs.

WEB(ER) GEMS

Jordan Weber holds a 1.18 ERA against top 10 teams over 35.2 innings. She has tossed two eight-inning complete game wins. Weber enters the tournament with 13 wins on the year, a career best. 

HOME RUN DERBY

The Tigers sit at 82 home runs on the year, irked for second best in program history. Four different Tigers have reached double-digits in Kimberly Wert, Brooke Wilmes, Kara Daly and Kendyll Bailey.
