No. 14 Gymnastics Dominates No. 20 Georgia

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri gymnastics team kicked off its SEC play with a dual against Georgia on Friday, with the Tigers earning their first home victory of the season.

The Tigers scored 196.975 in its home-opening, the Gymdogs kept it close with 196.425. Mizzou showed great resilience after a tough first rotation on vault and made a huge push in the second half of the meet.

The Tigers rotated to floor in the fourth and posted a score of 49+ for the 25th meet in a row and capped it off with a 49.375 on beam. The beam lineup was led by seniors Helen Hu and Sienna Schreiber, who scored 9.925 to tie for first place.

Vault

The Tigers began the meet on vault and continued to build as the rotation wore on, with a 9.825 from Schreiber and a 9.875 from Moore to end the lineup. Mizzou finished the event with a 48.850.

Bars

Missouri bounced back from last week’s bars rotation against Illinois, Schreiber opened the rotation with a 9.85. Jocelyn Moore added a 9.90 while senior Helen Hu rounded out the rotation with a solid 9.925, and the Tigers posted a 49.325 on bars.

Beam

The Tigers had some work to do as they headed to beam and started off strong with the Freshman Addison Lawrence earning a 9.850 in the leadoff position. Sheremeta posted a solid routine for a 9.85 in the fourth spot. Hu and Schreiber rounded out the Tigers lineup producing a solid routine for a score of 9.925 that rounded out a Mizzou beam score of 49.375

Floor

Schreiber and Freshman Casey Poddig had the Tigers off to a steady start with a 9.90 and 9.825 in the first and second spots on floor. Sheremeta did not let off the gas, earning a 9.925 to keep the momentum going.  Graduate Student Hannah McCrary built off Sheremeta’s routine, scoring a 9.925. To close out the last rotation Moore boasted a 9.875 to put a bow on the floor rotation of 49.425 for the Tigers.
