No. 11 Gymnastics Advance to NCAA Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 11 University of Missouri gymnastics punched a ticket to the NCAA Championship in Fort Worth after posting a NCAA Regional program-high score of 197.425. No. 3 Michigan won the session with a 197.800, followed by the Tigers, UCLA in third with a 197.400 and Iowa State in fourth with a 197.075.

As the top two finishers Mizzou, and Michigan advance to the national championship in Fort Worth, against the top two finishers in the three other regionals.  The Championship will be held from April 14 through the 16.

#MIZ Notables

  • In the first rotation, Sydney Schaffer sat in the leadoff position scoring a 9.75. Hannah McCrary notched a 9.825, while Schreiber notched a 9.80. Amari Celestine notched a team-high tallied a 9.875. Jocelyn Moore notched 9.85 in the anchor position. Mizzou tallied a team total of 49.125 on vault.
  • The Tigers set a new NCAA Regional program-high on bars with a 49.375. The sophomore leadoff Amaya Marshall set the tone notching a 9.825, Celestine and Hollyn Patrick followed up with a 9.875. To close out the bar rotation both senior Alisa Sheremeta and junior Helen Hu tallied a 9.9.
  • On beam, in the lead off position Marshall notched a solid 9.825, McCrary notched a 9.800 and Schaffer tallied a 9.850. In the second half of the lineup Sheremeta earned a 9.900 and Hu notched and 9.825. Schreiber closed out the beam lineup scoring a team-high of 9.95. The Tigers notched a time high of 49.350 on beam.
  • Mizzou started the floor rotation .0425 of a point behind both Michigan and UCLA.  Schreiber started the floor lineup strong notching a 9.90. Schaffer tallied a 9.850, while Sheremeta scored a strong 9.925. McCrary tallied a 9.875 to help Mizzou. The freshman anchor duo Moore and Celestine floor routines pushed the Tigers past UCLA. Moore scored a regional program-high of 9.950 on floor. Celestine scored a 9.925 to push the Tigers .025 of a point over the Bruins.
