No. 10 Wrestling Tops Wyoming 28-10 in Laramie

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The No. 10-ranked University of Missouri wrestling team defeated Wyoming 28-10 in Laramie, Wyo. Saturday, Jan. 14.

Redshirt senior Connor Brown put Mizzou on the board first with a 16-2 major decision at 125 pounds. Both redshirt junior Brock Mauller (6-1) and redshirt senior Jarrett Jacques (10-8) earned decisions at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively. Sophomore Keegan O’Toole earned the first period pin at 165 pounds at the Tigers began to pull away from Wyoming.

Both redshirt junior Peyton Mocco and sophomore Rocky Elam both grabbed bonus point victories to seal the dual, with Mocco getting a 15-5 major decision at 174 and Elam securing an 18-2 technical fall at 194.  

MATCH NOTES

• Mizzou moves to 8-2-0 all-time against Wyoming and extends its winning streak to seven consecutive duals against the Cowboys.
• Freshmen Kade Moore and Ryan Boersma made their dual debut.
• Jacques earned his second ranked win of the season with the decision win over No. 14 Jacob Wright.
• Brown earns his sixth bonus point win of the year, getting the major decision at 133 pounds.
• O’Toole gets his second consecutive win via bonus point with a pin at 165 pounds, after having three consecutive decision victories.

UP NEXT

The Tigers remain on the road to take on the State of Oklahoma. Mizzou is scheduled to challenge the Oklahoma Sooners Friday, Feb. 3, before matching up with No. 13 Oklahoma State Sunday, Feb. 5. The duals are slated for 7 p.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT, respectively.
