COLUMBIA, Mo. – Bronte Murgett and Marta Oliveira are set to make history as the first Mizzou Tennis doubles pair to obtain a main draw invite and bid to the ITA All-American Championships. The pair will compete in the event Oct. 1-Oct. 10 in Charleston, S.C. The duo are one of 28 pairs selected for the main draw as the selection comes with a top-25 preseason ranking. Murgett and Oliveria are the first Mizzou Tigers in program history to receive and invite to the prestigious event. Murgett also received a qualifying singles bid as one of 60 athletes to do so.

“This is another banner moment for the Mizzou Women’s Tennis program,” said head coach Chris Wootton. “We continue to make history at every turn, standing by our motto that Impossible Does Not Exist. Bronte and Marta embody this championship level mindset. Their vision, focus and relentless pursuit of greatness helps motivate this entire program and staff and I am honored to serve as their leader.”

Murgett is the second all-time women’s tennis player from Mizzou to receive a singles bid, coming off the heels of a successful 2020-21 campaign where she became the first Mizzou Tiger to earn an individual win in the NCAA Tournament.

Draws and match schedules for the ITA Women’s All-American Championships will be announced at a later date.
