COLUMBIA, MO – The Tigers wrapped up the Texas State-hosted, Jim West Challenge event Monday afternoon, finishing in 14th place against a competitive field on the long Kissing Tree Golf Club course. Mizzou shot an overall 33-over 897 (300-301-296).
Currently leading the team in season scoring average, junior Sophia Yoemans also led the way for the Tigers in this weekend’s event. Finishing the double-round first day strong with an even par 72 to compliment her first-round score of a 3-over 75, Yoemans fired a final 1-over 73 to end tied for 41st place with a 4-over 220.
Not far behind was veteran Noelle Beijer who ended with a 6-over 222 after sandwiching an outlying 78 with a pair of even parred 72s. Beijer secured a shared spot at T-50. One stroke back was sophomore Emily Staples who finished the event in strong fashion, chipping the ball in from the fringe on her final hole. Staples posted a 3-over 75 followed by back-to-back 2-over 74s to claim T-54 with a 7-over 223.
Senior Keagan Dunn sunk a total of eight birdies throughout the event with four of them being in the first round when she shot a 6-over 78. Dunn carded a 77 and 79 respectively to end with an 18-over 234 tied for 71st place. Rounding out the lineup was junior Bri Bolden who recorded an 8-over 80 and 5-over 77 in the first and third round. Unfortunately, due to scorecard complications, her second-round score was deemed disqualified.
UP NEXT: Mizzou Women’s Golf has a quick turnaround and will be back on the course next week in Starksville, MS competing in the Ally to finish up their 2021 fall season.
