Mizzou Volleyball Adds Setter Skylar Buckley

Skylar Buckley

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball head coach Joshua Taylor announced the addition of setter Skylar Buckley on Friday (May 28). Buckley spent the 2020-21 season at Mississippi State where she redshirted in her freshman campaign.

“Skylar brings an extremely high volleyball IQ with her to Mizzou,” Taylor said. “She sees and understands the game incredibly well which translates to elite performance. She’s a great teammate and will have an immediate impact on our program’s culture and level of play.”

A 5-9 setter, Buckley hails from Raleigh, N.C., where she was a standout at North Raleigh Christian Academy. In five seasons, the versatile athlete played six rotations in helping NRCA to five-straight state championships. Her stellar play earned Buckley 2018 and 2019 Triangle Independent School Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors.

In her high school career, Buckley accumulated 1,453 digs, 1,142 kills and 1,055 assists. While spending time at both outside and setter, Buckley finished atop the state of North Carolina leaderboard in kills as both a junior and senior.

Buckley joins fellow transfers Brynn Carlson and Nicole Alford as newcomers to Mizzou for the 2021 season. The Tigers will also welcome a highly-touted, six-player freshman class to campus over the summer.
