Mizzou Tennis Secures 2-0 Victory in Dual Match at UT Martin

Martin, Tenn. – Mizzou Tennis dominated in their first dual matches of the season as they swept UT Martin, 7-0, 5-0 on Saturday. The Tigers quickly took down the Skyhawks and are off to a 2-0 start on the season.

DOUBLES

The Tigers won all four doubles matches played to completion. Both matches left unfinished had Mizzou in the driver’s seat. In the first match, Romary Cardenas and Valentina Vazquez secured the first doubles point for the team. The second match saw Romary Cardenas and Ellie Wright clinching the doubles point for Mizzou. Each of these victories paved the way for the Tigers to conquer in singles.

SINGLES

Mizzou continued to sweep in singles play. All six games were won in the first match. Valentina Vazquez’ win gave the Tigers their first season victory. The second match had South Carolina transfer Gabriela Martinez clinching the final singles point for the team.

UP NEXT

The Tigers enter the season on a strong note as they go on to compete in the Milwaukee Classic on Sept. 18-20.
