Mizzou Tennis Adds South Carolina Transfer Gabriela Martinez

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Tennis added a former top-15 Spanish and South Carolina transfer Gabriela Martinez, as announced by head coach Chris Wootton on Wednesday. Martinez will have three years of eligibility remaining when she steps on campus in Columbia.

Martinez spent the first two seasons of her collegiate career with the Gamecocks, where she recorded 15 victories in singles and doubles, including six wins in SEC competition. In the classroom, she was a two-time recipient of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and earned ITA Scholar Athlete honors in 2020.

Martinez hails from Valencia, Spain, where she was the No. 11-ranked prospect in Spain and held a UTR of 11.24 and rose to as high as No. 57 in the ITF Junior Rankings prior to joining the Gamecocks. She advanced to the semifinals of the J1 Lambare in Paraguay and the quarterfinals of the JA Porto Alegre in Brazil in February 2019. In the 2017-18 season, she won three ITF Singles titles and one doubles title.
