Mizzou Soccer Travels to Northern Colorado, No. 22/20 BYU

Team vs Notre Dame

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer will hit the road for the first time during the 2021 season as the Tigers are set to face the Bears of Northern Colorado on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN+. The sides’ only meeting was in 2019 in Columbia, where the Tigers won 2-1 in overtime.

Overtime has been a common theme for Missouri of late. The Tigers defeated Miami (FL) in overtime with Syke Kingsley’s golden goal in the 92nd minute. On Sunday, SEC Freshman of the Week Milena Fischer’s strike from long distance in the 96th minute downed previously undefeated Notre Dame.

The Saarbrücken, Germany native added a brace in the match after recording an assist on the game-winner against Miami (FL). She has recorded a point in three-straight matches. Her six points through five matches are the most by a Tiger freshman since Sarah Luebbert in 2016. Luebbert went on to win SEC Freshman of the Year honors.

Following the match with Northern Colorado, Missouri will travel a bit further west to face No. 22/20 BYU for the second time in the calendar year. The Tigers and Cougars faced off in Columbia on March 3rd. The Cougars controlled the match and fired off 29 shots. The Tigers are now led by Head Coach Stefanie Golan. Saturday’s match will be her first match against BYU. It will also be Missouri’s first match against a ranked opponent.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sophia Worth has stepped up for the Tigers between the posts. The Denver native earned wins in each of her first two starts against Miami (FL) and Notre Dame.
