Mizzou Soccer Opens 2021 Season at Home Against Illinois

NCAA WSOC: Mizzou Tigers vs. LSU Tigers

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The new era of Mizzou Soccer will begin on Thursday night at Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium. The Tigers will face rival Illinois with kick off set for 7 p.m. CT. Admission is free for all fans.

First year head coach Stefanie Golan will take on a familiar foe in Illinois after roaming the sidelines at Minnesota for nine years.

The Tigers return three super seniors from last year’s 6-5-3 squad that finished fifth in SEC play. Momola Adesanmi, Cassidy Nurnberger, and Macy Trujillo have combined for 119 starts in their careers. The trio will add experience to the Mizzou side.

Senior Julissa Cisneros has moved into the top ten in program history with 20 goals over her career at Mizzou. Cisneros is the leading returning scorer. She added four goals with three assists in the 2020-21 season.

Cisneros and Nurnberger were joined by a pair of freshmen on the SEC Preseason Watchlist in Ashlyn Mills and Milena Fischer. Fischer is a member of the German U19 National Team and Mills was a highly touted prospect out of Frisco, Texas.

Mizzou closed the unusual 2020-21 season on a positive note. The Tigers defeated Kansas in a 1-0 contest under the lights at Walton Soccer Stadium. Isabella Alessio earned her second shutout of the spring. The sole goal in the match was an own goal off of a free kick by Julissa Cisneros.
