Mizzou Soccer Faces Nebraska in Sunday Afternoon Match

Milena Fischer vs. Illinois Pregame

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Soccer (0-1) will take on a familiar opponent in Nebraska (1-0). The former Big 12 foes will meet for the 23rd time in each program’s history. Sunday afternoon’s match will tie Nebraska with Kansas as the Tigers’ second most common opponent. Texas A&M is the only opponent that Mizzou has seen more often with 26 meetings.

Nebraska holds a significant lead in the all-time series, leading 19-3. In Columbia, the Tigers have gone 2-7 against the Huskers. The sides have not met since 2017.

Earlier this week, new Mizzou head coach Stefanie Golan made her debut on the Tigers’ sideline. Mizzou was unable to get the attack going, falling 4-0 to Illinois. Four freshmen made their debuts in the season opener. Milena Fischer, Jenna McCormick, and Ashlyn Mills started the match while Leah Selm came off the bench in the first half. Both Kyla Johnson and Caroline Lyman played a career-high in minutes.

Mizzou will look to put pressure on the Nebraska back line in the contest. The Huskers defeated Western Illinois 3-0 in their first match of the season.
