Mizzou Hoops’ Nicodemus Christopher Moving on From Program to Start Own Company

NCAA Men's Basketball: No. 18 Mizzou Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats

COLUMBIA, MO. — Mizzou Men’s Hoops’ Director of Athletic Performance Nicodemus Christopher will move on from his position on the Tigers’ coaching staff to establish his own company, head coach Cuonzo Martin announced Friday. Christopher finishes a four-year stint with the Tigers’ program and more than a decade working with Martin at Tennessee, Cal-Berkeley and Mizzou.

Christopher plans to launch his own company in Denver, Colorado, where he will work with both high-profile athletes and corporate business professionals in strength and conditioning, nutrition and performance training.

“I have been blessed to have Nicodemus by my side for most of my career,” Martin said. “He’s a tremendous coach, friend, husband and father, who has positively impacted countless student-athletes in our program and helped them grow physically, but more importantly, as young men. We wish him, his wife Fallon and his son Nic II the very best in their new endeavor. A national search for a new Director of Athletic Performance to help our program’s continued rise has already begun.”

“After spending the last decade under the leadership and guidance of Coach Martin I have become a better man, husband, coach and more recently a father,” Christopher said. “There is no better leader of men on this planet than Coach Martin. Thank you to every student-athlete that I have had the opportunity to coach. Although I have the title of coach, you all have coached me through the game of life.”

“Both my successes and failures have taught me the power of purpose and vision,” Christopher added. “As my vision becomes clearer, I realize that I am at a pivotal moment in my life. Though the vehicle has changed, my destination remains the same. I am committed to pouring into the lives of others.”

Mizzou Hoops’ summer training period begins in early June. The Tigers are coming off a second NCAA Tournament appearance in the past four seasons. Mizzou spent 11 consecutive weeks in the AP Top 25 poll this past season and beat three Top 10 teams in the same campaign for the first time in a decade.
