Mizzou hoops lands four-star recruit Trent Pierce

A four-star recruit out of Oklahoma just committed to play for Dennis Gates at Mizzou.

Tulsa high school forward Trent Pierce announced on social media Tuesday that he is planning to play for the Tigers starting in 2023.

Pierce is a 6’8″ forward and is the No. 80 nationally-ranked recruit in the Class of 2023 according to 247 Sports. He chose Mizzou over Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Illinois and Florida. Pierce is the second addition to Mizzou’s 2023 recruiting class, joining guard Anthony Robinson II from Tallahassee, Fla.

This is yet another impressive splash in recruiting for Dennis Gates. Pierce provides some solid length to the Tigers’ future roster and appears to be a versatile defender that can also create his own offense. As Pierce pairs up with another four-star recruit in Aidan Shaw, who’s joining the Tigers this year, we can see this program starting to stockpile the talent they need to return to relevance within their conference and nationally. They aren’t there yet, but more players like Pierce choosing to play in Columbia could change that.
