Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men’s basketball team ran its home court winning streak to 18 games with an 82-65 win over NCAA Division III Webster University Saturday at The Arena of Southwell Complex.
Columbia broke up a one-point game midway through the first half with a 21-2 run. The Cougars improved to 9-0 at home this season and have not lost on their home court since Jan. 8, 2022 (72-62 vs. Missouri Baptist).
Columbia improved to 10-4 with the win, while Webster has a 2-8 record. The game counted as an exhibition for Webster. The Cougars have won four all-time meetings with the Gorloks.
Collin Parker had a game-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting and added eight rebounds in the win. Parker has scored in double figures in 13 of 14 games this season. Marlon Allen added a career-high 14 points, while Tony Burks (13) and Brock Davis (10 points, nine rebounds) also scored in double figures.
The Cougars shot 48.6 percent (34-70) from the field in the win and dominated points in the paint (52-22) and rebounding (45-25).
Columbia was down 7-2 in the opening three minutes of play, but a three-pointer by Allen with 15:23 to play gave the Cougars their first lead of the game at 10-9. A 21-2 run by Columbia extended the lead to 31-13 with 8:31 to play in half.
Columbia took a 51-27 lead to half as Parker had 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The Cougars shot 57.6 percent (19-33) from the field, including 7-of-14 from three, and dominated the paint with a 24-6 advantage.
Webster opened the second half on an 11-4 run to trim the lead to 55-38, but the Cougars put the game out of reach with a 9-0 run to make it 68-42.
Markus Becton (12), Jemard Skykes II (12) and Jason Coleman (10) scored in double figures for Webster, who shot 43.1 percent (25-58) from the field.
The Cougars step back into AMC play on Saturday, Dec. 17 at Missouri Baptist University. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. in St. Louis.
