Mark Vierling Named to SEC Baseball Community Service Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Senior Mark Vierling was named to the 2021 SEC Baseball Community Service Team as announced by the conference on Wednesday (May 19).

In a continuing effort to recognize the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition, the Southeastern Conference has highlighted a Community Service Team for baseball for the 2021 season. The conference names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.

Vierling has accumulated 55 hours of community service during his time as a Tiger. The senior second baseman has worked with nine different service projects over his four years. Vierling’s community service includes numerous hours at the food bank, the Tiger Food for Friends/Food Recovery Network, the Optimist Club Tree Farm, Make-A-Wish, Mizzou Youth Experience and the Fun City Youth Academy.

On the field, Vierling is hitting .256 this season with a career-high four home runs. The senior has also driven in 20 runs while scoring another 24. Vierling and the Tigers host Auburn in the final series of the regular season beginning Thursday, May 20.
